We're talking about the recent Kennedy Center festival and competition our theatre students participated in…as well as plans for the major WSC Theatre production of “Pirates of Penzance” March 26-29.
Pirates of Penzance is an amusing satire by playwright W. S. Gilbert with music by Sir Arthur Sullivan. The story follows Frederic who is indentured to a band of pirates. Frederic loathes piracy and longs for a better life, but a twist of fate hinders his plans. Meanwhile, the Pirate King has his own plan. A boisterous clash ensues. Pirates of Penzance premiered in 1879, however its comic social commentary remains relevant today. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students 12 years of age and under, with free admission for WSC students, faculty, and staff.
